This function can be used for online traffic service like traffic jams or speed alerts. The traffic service can be used over the hotspot functionality of the phone without a subscription, Speed alerts need to be paid. The default in Europe is to pay for the services on a 3-year subscription basis, where the internal sim-card of the unit is used.

All the data is generated from a lot of connected TomTom-Units in private cars which are uploaded to corresponding servers.

The map itself is on the units internal memory and can't be updated through the online service.

interesting! in China if you buy 5008GT(only GT version has the car networking service), you will get a 5 years basic service and 1 year advanced service for free. Then Paugeot offers some different service packages you need to buy.

BTW, on-line music is also a part of service needs to pay.

After i upgrade my NAC to wave 4, the map database can directly download it with internal sim-card, this is a part of basic service. totally different with wave 3.

in wave 4 traffic jams also available in Head-up digital screen, you can see in my attached photos. sorry the map database download photo is chinese ,but i think you can see the process.

Actually Wi-Fi designates WLAN, and this cannot be used for navigation.

The car can create a Wifi hotspot, but this is only to connect mobile devices to one mobile connection (e.g. using 4G or 5G).

However the speed is often very low across Europe, there are lot of places where even 4G does not work properly unfortunately.

Otherwise you could connect your mobile phone which is running a navigation, and use the NAC only to display it.

A few weeks ago, peugeot officially offered an update with wave 4 firmware for wave 3, where both updates (Firmware + Maps) were inside.

Yes you are right, my 5008 is a chinese car. produced in China. Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile Co.,Ltd. (DPCA).

In wave 3, the only way to upgrade map database is by USB disk. it's always out of date, and sometimes you need to buy a key code from peugeot to active it after upgrade, otherwise you can't use it anymore. With one key code, you can get 2 times upgrade version for free. on-line traffic information only available on touch screen.

In wave 4, the map database can upgrade on-line with blue-i service( a 4G module in side), i can always get the newest map database, and the map database it's free! on-line traffic information is also available in Head-up digital screen.

Wi-Fi connection is partly locked in Chinese version, only Wi-Fi sharing function available. I guess peugeot wants to earn money from blue-i service. i need to buy bule-i service, other wise no car networking service.

I know in Europe you can use Wi-Fi for navigation service?

With the help of local Peugeot vendor, i got a Chinese version NAC wave 4 FW and successful upgraded to Wave 4. The navigation system is much more better than before.

Really amazing！Now my version is :41.02.65.42_NAC-r0

No, a downgrade is not possible.

If the update really fails, you successfully bricked it.

Peugeot will only replace the head unit and not fix it.

So repairs won't be cheap.

I tired with Peugeot update tool, it can't identify with my VIN. seems it only works with Peuget vehicles produced in Europe.

I also want's to upgrade my NAC from WAVE 3 to WAVE 4...But local Peuget distributor said No WAVE 4 in their hand.

Sorry for my English post. as I do not understand German.

My understanding is Wave 4 has the same HW with Wave 3, Only the FW is different, all HW with Wave 3 FW can be upgrade to Wave 4, am i right?

One question from my side: if i failed to upgrade to WAVE 4, what will happen? Can i downgrade to my previous version? Wave 3?

As i am not sure if this FW also works with my Chinese version 5008 or not?
